THEY'RE COMING TO TAKE ME AWAY

Posted by Picasa

They're coming to take me away ho-ho, hee-hee, ha-haaa, to the funny farm where life is...... Hey, wait a minute, hold the presses! I already live on the funny farm. It's called the Ponderosa where the lush winter wheat field radiates a brilliant emerald green. Where well fed cattle graze and happily chew their cud. A land where the birds sing melodies that fill the Ozarks air and one can hear Chalky the donkey braying for a juicy afternoon treat. Ahhh, this is a land where things seldom go as planned. It's a world that could drive a Type-A obsessively organized farm chick totally mad going completely berserk.

I spent last week on my hands and knees vacuuming every thick carpet fiber. Every nook and cranny of overstuffed furniture was sucked dry of any dust particles so completely the dust mites have vacated the premises and are shopping for new dwellings. I have emptied the dirty gatherings on my utility room floor and gone through every blessed dusty speck. The ashes of the fire place have been examined as thoroughly as a CSI investigation. My car has had the same treatment. I searched through trash, Walmart bags and yes even the peanut butter. Yep, this chick loves her Jiff. The local health food store even gave me their dirt to examine. Nasty!!! Bet ya'll are thinkin' this is some strange behavior even for Nezzy. Well, I lost the diamond out of my wedding ring a week ago. It just ripped my heart out because it IS my wedding ring. I have wasted a week digging, searching and turning my knees into hamburger to no avail when I needed to be working on Thanksgiving and packing for the trip to south Texas.

Saturday I had the day planned. I would clean the house (I know, but my name is Nezzy~I need help!) copy and put together next quarters curriculum for Kids Church which I had to be distributed to my helpers Sunday. I'd make the thorn arrangement Pastor had requested for his Sunday sermon and make a huge batch of dressing for the Thanksgiving banquet after services Sunday. My Sunday School lesson would be put together and I would study for Kids Church. Somewhere in here I'd wash my hair and do my nails. Diamond hunting through the week had left little time to do such trivial tasks.

Saturday morn came and Hubby thought it would be an excellent day to vaccinate the cattle that escaped last time and castrate the young bulls. When the wild eyed cattle were rounded~up we poked, cut and wormed the over sized bovine followed by the Great American Cattle Drive down the road to greener pastures. Most the cattle were perfect trailblazers but there are always a few who delight in running though or jumpin' over fences like crazed Olympians. After all trophys were awarded for the highest jumper and the fastest runner, Hubby wanted to go to a nearby town to pick up our new car. Flying to the house faster than a squirrel with a jet pack, I commenced to scrub the manure smell off, twist my hair in a cute little french knot and toss on some make-up. Ya'll know I'm not going anywhere without my makeup! I returned home and kicked myself into high gear. Working like an ant after hearing a winter storm forecast every task above was completed. WooHoo! Does this chick know how to get-er-done, or what? Nothing wrong with me except I'm still amazed how the heck I managed to put the cheese in the hamper. Yes, I did!

Sunday came early and so did my Sunday School class. Kids Church was a blast but I'm always exhausted by the time it's over. The Thanksgiving banquet was delicious and the fellowship even better. I washed the dishes as others helped with clean up and we came home. Day of rest, day of rest, day of rest, right? Oh, Lord I'm sorry but it was warm and I wanted to get a coat of wax on the car before it hit the salty corrosive air of Brownsville, so I waxed the car.

I'm going nuts. My push for perfection and attention to details have me overwhelmed. My day, hourly and minute plans have gone out the window like a bird freaked by a pouncing cat. Forget the fact that our very large Thanksgiving celebration is tomorrow. Forget the packing is not completed nor is the food ready. Here I sit blogging like I have nothing else to do. Why you ask? Because I want to wish you all a wonderful Thanksgiving with your families. I want to tell ya'll to enjoy all the love that surrounds you so much that your lap may never be empty. I wanted to tell you that before those nice young men in their clean white coats take me to the happy home with trees and flowers and chirping birds and basket weavers as the 1966 song of Napoleon XIV goes. I will be in the Texas gulf for a week an will see ya'll when I get back. 'Just wanted to say all that because I fear "THEY'RE COMING TO TAKE ME AWAY"

  1. Oh no!!! Your diamond!! I'm so sorry, that would be so hard to find unless you happen to have the Hope Diamond. Gosh I sure hope it turns up somewhere like in the bottom of your purse (I actually found a pearl that fell out of a ring this way).

    Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

  2. Dang diamond...I hope it turns up in some odd place...just so you can blog about it. I wish I had even a tenth of your energy. *sigh*

I am still trying to picture Olympian cows. Do they jump over the moon?

    Have a fabulous Thanksgiving~!

  3. I'm so sorry you lost the diamond out of your wedding band. I know that must be so frustrating. On another note, you make me tired just READING about your day/preparation. Y'all have a safe trip and a wonderful Thanksgiving! God Bless!

  4. The lovely young woman with the kids is probably your daughter; she looks a copy of you.

You'll overcome the diamond episode. I understand how you feel, but losses like this happen to everyone, and life goes on.

    Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

  5. Well, I'm exhausted just reading about everything you got done. I totally bow to your awesomeness. Hope you find your diamond and have a lovely Thanksgiving.

  6. A very wonderful Thanksgiving to you too.

I think you're in line for the overachiever's award. I have no idea how you did all of that and even inspected the health food store dirt. (I hope they paid generously for your contribution.)

Hope the diamond shows up under a shoe or someplace easy find. Too bad black lights don't pick them up. That would be a good way to locate it.

Enjoy the time with family in Texas.

  9. I lost my diamond too. Not once but twice. The first time it went missing I found it in the vacuum bag. Years later it went missing again but I wasn't lucky the second time. Married 41 years now the diamondless band will have to do. Happy Thanksgiving to you and thanks for your comments on my blog!

  15. Oh Nezzy, not your diamond! I'm still holding out hope you find it.

As for your whirlwind cleaning, cow poking, church planning, car waxing antics. You really need to slow down honey. Lord help me if my husbands reads this post. He'll know FOR SURE that I'm a total slacker :-) Oh how I wish I had your energy! You are amazing!

Here's hoping you actually take a little REST over the next week while you're away-- Hint hint :-)

Have the greatest time with your family and take lots of pictures. I can't wait to see them. Safe travels,
    xo

  18. I was so in hopes that the last line of this post would be you exclaiming that you found your diamond. I hate that you lost it. Have you been through everything? This sounds silly, but have you looked in the fridge or freezer? Or underneath the fridge? It's got to be in the kitchen, under an appliance. Or maybe in that same hamper. Hope you find it. Have a Happy Thanksgiving and even though it will be hard to do...stop and take a breath. Relax for a bit. You deserve it. xoxo Susan

  19. Nezzy, I had the same thing happen to me--well. almost the same thing. I lost the diamond from my ring too--1/2 carrqt! I never found it, but that was many years ago. Since then, my husband bought me another diamond ring. So.... maybe ....

In any case, I hope you have a Blessed Thanksgiving.

  23. Wow - you have really been working! I was so hoping you would end this post by saying you found the diamond. I'm praying it shows up. God knows where it is and He cares about all the things in your life - whether it is diamonds or castrating bulls!
Have a great day tomorrow, and a good trip to South Texas.

  24. Maybe your diamond will show up. Sometimes they get caught on clothing. So check what you were wearing and cleaning (obviously). Back track I say, Woman, this is an emergency. Back track.

Oh have safe and happy trip. Prayers.

  25. That reminds me; I have a bag of vacuum dirt from my classroom, out in the garage. Just not in a hurry to go digging through it, I guess. I'm just not attached to that stone. (Yeah, I'm cold hearted, I guess.)

    Happy Thanksgiving, Nez. Ride carefully

P.S. Remind me to send you an email about the surprise Christmas gift I need your help with...

  30. I have been that way my self. I lost my diamond in the flower garden at my old home. I went to a pawn shop and had it replace with another diamond. But my hands are so swollen I have not been able to were it for years now. So It no longer bothers me that the first diamond is gone.

I wish you and your family a wonderful day full of love and joy.
    Happy Thanksgiving.
    Many blessings to you too.

  31. Nezzy, I can totally relate to the mad dash to hunt for your diamond. I lost a piece of jewelry this week that I wear every day.

Loved your post. Hearing about the Ponderosa the way you write it was like reading a book. I was whisked away for a brief time. Thanks!
And then my blood pressure rose as stress radiated from your page. You sure do cram a lot into living!

    Happy Thanksgiving!

  32. Oh I would tear everything apart looking for my diamond too. I sure hope it shows up! Man, I'm just tired reading about all you did as well. Hope you have a wonderful and relaxing holiday!

  33. Shooting a ShoMe Happy Thanksgiving back at you Nezzy! Sorry about your diamond but ya never know it might show up. Enjoy your Thanksgiving time with family, I know you will love every precious moment. Nezzy I swear I thought I was the only gal that had to put wax on a brand new vehicle, I'm telling you it is a disease! And, no, Eggnog Creams do not come in chocolate but that is an interesting concept!

  34. Hello Nezzy,
Your energy amazes me and yes...makes me very jealous. I have become such a clump, but I still want everything done just right. The two don't go together.
We are here in Ohio with our kids and grandkids having a wonderful time as we always do. The new game this year is "Apples to Apples." Simple fun that even the 21 year old will play. Love, love, love sitting up late at night playing with the teenagers. I think they actually like us old fogies.
Hoping your holiday is filled with joy. I can only imagine that you bring a spark of life into any room you enter so keep that spark lit for everyone to enjoy.
Thankful to have met you in blog world!
    Joanne

  38. Aw nuts - I feel your pain. I lost the diamond out of mine in 2000 or 2001. Out in the yard, of course. I guess that is why we work, all tho' your homeowners will cover the diamond - if - you have a receipt or appraisal. I didn't, oh well. Hope your trip is full of fun, great food and loved ones. Happy Thanksgiving.

  39. Oh No Nezzy not the diamond..I am so sorry..I hope you find it..I lost mine once..found it in the carpet..had my ring repaired and promptly put it away safely..I only wear it on special days. 46. Oh my! You need to be taken away to the gulf! You worked way too hard before hand. I hope that you'll find your diamond. I just heard a story about a man who lost his grandfather's ring. It apparently broke while gardening. They prayed and searched for two or three day. Then the clouds parted just enough on a cloudy day to show just enough sunlight into the garden to cause the red stone to glisten, catching their eye. They felt as if God's reached down from heaven to point out where the ring was.

  47. Thank you for the happy Thanksgiving wishes. Hope you find your diamond....I lost mine awhile back. Hope your ending is happier than mine was.

  48. You have a new car???? I lost my diamond too (years ago) and found it next to the toilet. Check it out. Your description of your past week mirrored mine minus the castration. It must be an Ozark thing.

  49. Oh wow...you are one go-getter!! I wish I had that much energy! I sure hope you find your diamond. I just read something today that might help: turn off the lights and shine a flashlight on the floor or the table tops. The light just might catch the glimmer of your diamond! Hope you had a fabulous Thanskgiving with your family!

  50. I'm bettin' one of those Olympian cows aimed to get revenge for the loss of HIS jewels, and so jumped the fence, broke into the house, snatched your diamond, and, just to throw you off track, tossed the cheese into the hamper! Whatcha think?

  51. honest scrap award for you on my blog!

  52. Nezzy, so sorry to hear about the missing diamond. I admire your ability to get things done, but I'm really hoping you know how to get some relaxing done too because that is even more important than waxing the car.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Oh, Nezzy! I'm so sad to hear about your lost diamond and feel total compassion for your situation. For you see, I've lost my anniversary ring...don't know when, don't know where, don't know how...all I know is that it's no longer on my finger and I'm kicking myself because I knew it was on the loose side and I should have taken it off and put it away. Alas, if the Lord wants me to have it back, I figure He'll put it back in my path.

    Enjoy your time away! :-)

    Blessings,
    Tammy ~@~

  54. You never know where the ring will turn up. I planted my pinky ring that I had since age 10 one year planting Fall mums in the garden. I did not even attempt to try and dig it all up to look for it but my heart aches for that little ring every so often. I will say a prayer your diamond turns up. Oh and the funny farm white jacket hotel is full of other bloggers so come on by and join all the other crazy ladies:) Enjoy your trip.

    Hope your Thanksgiving was wonderful!
