LOVE POTION NO. 9 (Not Wednesday or Wordless)

Posted by Picasa
Ya'll don't have to have a personal acquaintance with Madam Ruth, know anybody with a gold~capped tooth or have kissed a cop down on 34th and Vine to want a long tall drink of this sweet little potion. This picture was taken several months ago when Ian was tryin' to get a sip of his Grandpa's tea. Oh bestow my heart this one has me in a love trance. Poor little fella's lapper just isn't quite long enough! Heeehehehe!!!

This is one Ozark Farm Chick who has been wound tighter than the girdle of a preachers wife at an all you can eat pancake breakfast just tryin' to get-'er-done. Between the Ponderosa, shoppin', programs, fudge, decorating, gift~wrappin' and a Mother~In~Love who is havin' a heap of problems I can't decide if I've found my rope or lost my horse...little lone have the time I desire to write a readable post.

In 1959 then again in 1971 the d00~wop group, The Clovers, sang from 125th Street, Harlem, of a drink concocted to make you so smitten ya didn't have the brains of a stunted swamp chigger. "Love Potion No. 9" was the song. I become just that brain dead around my grandkiddos. I'm so completely lost in their love my heart almost bursts. This season when we are meeting ourselves comin' and goin' let us remember the reason for the season. Let us drink in the greatest love potion ever gifted to mankind and bask in the glorious love of Jesus. There is just no greater love ever experienced, not even... "Love Potion No. 9!!!

God bless ya'll and enjoy the "Love" of the season.

  3. Potions like that are enough to make your heart swoon for sure. My grandchildren like yours have stolen this heart of mine. It is a busy season but the little ones just love it and don't let the 'stuff' get in the way of what is important at all. I just cuddled my youngest grandson and put him down for his afternoon nap. Well he woke up from his morning nap and then hardly woke up for the afternoon bottle and went back to sleep again. Life is good.

With all the things we go to and do at Christmas time, the children's Christmas programs are my favorite. Seeing Christmas through their eyes is eye opening!! The wonde of it all, when did we lose that?

  35. That is one cute little Ian going for the sweet tea! I do remember that song from the early 1970s. I was working at the Pentagon at the time and liked to hang out in Georgetown. It was played frequently in the, ahem, tea rooms (aka bars).

    ReplyDelete
  77. Yes, if we cannot love like Jesus who loves us,warts and all, we are nothing. We all celebrate diffeently. Since we have no children reparticipate in giveing to children, (8-9) through our Life Group at church. We do just as much shopping and planning. We don't do much decorating at home as expect NO guests an we usually either buy a cooked boxed Christmas Dinner, or buy dinner at the VFW> As we age as celecbrate diffeently, but the matter of the heart is what is important.

    ReplyDelete
  78. You wrote this up very well dear and I;m certain you speak for many of us grandma ladies. As a 14 times over great grandma, I sure understand that empty arms feeling you portray. There are those times when you "just gotta hold them close to your heart."

  113. Nezzy, you are probably the best writer here in blogland- you keep me in stitches.
Love the song and I am so glad you survived the stampede with your trusty maglight in your hand.
What my daddy would have done would have been either to duct tape that maglight to the shock stick or to the top of your head. (He loved his carbine lights)
Cow butting sure ain't for the weak, that's for sure. Ain't had that done since I was young. It would probably kill me now.
    Merry Christmas-

"Tighter than a girdle on a preacher's wife at a pancake breakfast?" Really?

Oh, I have laughed so hard, my teeth fell out, my wig has jiggled to the side of my head and now my true age is showing!

This is totally the best laugh I have had in nearly 200 years!

  117. "...wound tighter than the girdle of a preachers wife ..."

OK! THAT'S IT! You got me with this one. I'm a follower!

I have 3 rules about following a blog. First, the blogger absolutely has to make me laugh at least 5 times before I will follow. Well, you reached that a couple of postings ago, but I had to read on. And, that brings me to # 2, the blogger must make me want to keep on reading older post (check). And now #3, the blogger MUST BE up beat and positive (check).
