PRETTY LITTLE ANGEL EYES

Angelology is defined as the theological study of angels reflecting the descriptions in the Bible who are often depicted as winged supernatural creatures. The spiritual messengers can be found in the Hebrew Bible, New Testament and the Quran. Their job descriptions include protecting, guiding humans and carrying out God's tasks. A brush with some famous all-star angels might include Malachim, Michael, Gabriel, Raphael, Uriel, Seraphim, Malach HaMavet, HaSatan, Chayot, Hakodesh or Ophanim HaMekavah. My angel encounter involves this bright eyed joy who is in my Sunday School Class and Kid's Church. Born January 11, 1999 this intelligent young tween is the one who always asks to devour my object lessons. What can I say??? The girl loves to eat! She has a deep relationship with the Lord and a broad compassion for others far beyond her years. Angel Dawn has been an irreplaceable helper to me 'round church doin' anything I ask of her without hesitation. She's as country as a baked bean sandwich and loves animals more than anyone this Ozark farm chick has ever met. Ya' can tell by the vast four legged menagerie she keeps around her at all times. This sweet eleven year old lassie is also fightin' the battle of her life!!!!
Angel awoke with a headache so intense that she was unable to attend Sunday services about seven weeks ago. Now this is one little gal who loves, loves, loves Kid's Church. I often begin Kid's Church with, "The best part of my week was....," Angel always answers, "Right now...here!" That night she was taken to the nearest approved hospital who transported her to Barnes in St. Louis where they found a tumor at the base of her brain stem. A successful operation removed the tumor was sadly malignant. Yep, free spirited Angel was diagnosed with cancer. Those old 'C' cells were dividin' rapidly with their uncontrolled fury she was hit with a double barrel of radiation and chemotherapy. The surgery left her right side motor skills compromised and four weeks into treatment Angel had lost twenty pounds and her hair. Isn't she just a livin' doll in her new wig??? Ya'll gotta love that smile! My best friend and I wanted to bless her beyond the prayers we'd been bombardin' the heavens with so we piled in the car and spent a day in the Big City doin' a little Angel shoppin'. Big old Angel tears whelped up in us all as she read her card. I think she was just a little overwhelmed with all her goodies but her concern was for the other children who received no gifts. That's our Angel!!!
This is Long Tall Dave. He happens to be the Ringo Starr drummer of our Tiny Town who promised Miss Angel he would shave his head as slick as a cue ball when she lost her hair. An angel in his own right, Long Tall not only shaved his head, he gave Angel scissors to make the first cuts. Now, if that didn't make her happier than a woodpecker in a lumber yard!!! God bless ya Dave, your a brave man!

We spent a special day in Kid's Church Sunday with our precious Angel just listening to her struggles and prayin' with this young lady of God. When asked to finish the statement, "The best part of my week was.....," she answered, "I only have ten more radiation treatments!" The wisdom of a child will always amaze me. The little cherub stated that she knew there was a reason God was allowing her to go through this battle but she also knew the He was right there with her to fight the fight. Look there...over her shoulder... can ya see Jesus watchin' over her? He has come to her in other ways, like the hospital worker who took time from this day off to take her to the most beautiful flower garden she'd ever seen! The nurse who told her that she had dimples 'cause that's where the angels had kissed her. The unknown stranger in a local restaurant who left the waitress at the register a hundred dollars just for Angel. I covet your prayers for a miracle in this little jewel's young life. Angel has charmed many just as that doo-wop foursome, the Halos, sang in 1961 with those "Pretty Little Angel Eyes!!!"

Our prayers are with you Angel

  16. What a beautiful, wise, and joyful child. I am so sorry to hear about thus, it breaks my heart to see a sick child, I babysit for one who is like my own granddaughter. They are so trusting, and look to us to always do the best for them and take care of them. But at times like this, we are lost. You are wonderful in what you have done for her, and doing this post to get the word out. I will for sure be keeping her in my prayers.

  19. What a beautiful post for a beautiful young sister-in-Christ! Her smile lights up a room - - - and a blog! I know she has been a great witness for Christ in the medical community but I hate the reasons for it. I pray for her healing and that God will keep the family encouraged each step of this very difficult journey.

Thank you for bringing Dawn to our attention, you are special Nezzy. You never told us what you purchased for her? Hugs to you! :)

  22. Oh Nezzy Sweetie...
You must come to my blog and read about the miracle weekend. This story must be read by all. It is a weekend of miracles all about cancer. Guideposts would love to get hold of this story possibly. I am sure.

Oh sweetie, I will be storming the heavens with prayers for this precious angel. She has the most beautiful smile, she would outshine any halo with that smile of hers. I so adore her. Could you email me her address or yours? I would like to send something that way for her.

Would it be okay to add her photo and a little bit of this story to my miracle weekend post? I would so love to bring her prayer needs to as many as possible? This is connected to Pink Saturday, Spiritual Sunday, Country Wings in Phoenix, Katillac Shack. Guideposts magazine is going to donate a $1.00 for every comment left on each of our 4 sites. You must hit them all, and I please let me share her story and you do the same. Is her name Angel? Or is that what you call her?

Many hugs sweetie. Get back to me soon. I am working on my post now. I have one up regarding this miracle weekend. Please come check it out.

    I love you girl, Sherry

  28. Our prayers will be with Angel. My eyes were opened wide as we watched our little grandson, Tucker, go through chemo and radiation treatments for his Leukemia.... People that we did not know were praying for Tucker and I can testify that prayer is indeed very powerful.
These children hold a very special place in my heart. I would encourage everyone to find a place in your heart to support "Wipe out Kids cancer" or any other organization that is out working hard to raise money for a cure.
Once again, our prayers go out to Angel and her family...Thanks Nezzy for sharing this with us.

This story of this sweet little girl is so beautiful. Cancer is a dreadful thing as we all know and it is so unfair when children get it but I think Angel is right - God gives us trials for a reason. She will be stronger -her faith stronger because of this.

  56. Hi Nezzy Sweetie...
I just had to pop on back over here and tell you I have been handing out your address right and left. So many wanting to send packages to Ms Angel Dawn. Even a beautiful lap quilt will be coming her way. SO many want to help and make her life possibly a little happier. I can't wait to see what comes her way. Keep me posted.

I will be putting together her package this next week and sending it along as well. Several things that I think she will enjoy. It is great to have grand daughters that know about these things. One is 11 years old also and I think she would make a wonderful pen pal for Angel. What do you think?

Please keep me posted. I am trying to answer many emails and questions. I have been busy all day. I so want to make as much money as I possibly can for this wonderful cause this weekend. Miracles can and do happen.

  91. Hi Nezzy...

Well my friend, I was prepared to come by your place to thank you for stopping in and leaving such a sweet note on my tea in the veranda...but that all seems so very unimportant now...after reading about your dear sweet, Angel! What a dear, sweet soul she is...and you're absolutely right...she has angel eyes...as well as that sweet angelic smile she wears!!! You know, I am a child of God...and I yet to know why He allows these little ones to go through these struggles...however, I put all my trust in HIM...and that He knows what He's doing! I will certainly be joining you in praying for this sweet little girl! The Lord bless and keep her...and may she snuggle in close...under the shadow of HIS wings...where I just know that she will find all that she has need of...His healing for sure!!!

Well dear lady, I for one...thank you for blessing this little angel! I pray that the Lord especially blesses you...as well as all the others who have been ministering to Angel!!! Thank you so much for sharing her with us today...through the struggles of life...we are still blessed!!!

    Warmest wishes,

  111. She actually reminds me of myself (minus the irresistible dimples, of course) when I was her age. I had no clue that was a wig, BTW. She's a beautiful girl with a beautiful heart and a beautiful SS teacher--I'll pray for her beautiful recovery :)
