SEALED WITH A KISS

Abominable Snowmen, Yeti, Forodwaith, Yuki Daruma or just plain old Frosty the Snowmen all melt away like a big old triple scoop bowl of Cappuccino Chocolate Chunk ice cream when the toasty spring weather begins warm the frozen earth. A snowman is an anthropomorphic icy sculpture of a human. The first documented snowman was noted by Bob Eckststine in his book titled "Book of Hours" in 1380. The largest snowman ever recorded was in 2008 in Bethel, Maine who towered a grand twenty~two feet, one inch tall. Heck, these cold hearted fellas even celebrate their own holiday on January 18th known as World Day of Snowmen. I've made no bones about my own abomination towards those tiny frozen lace doilies floatin' from the sky or how I loathe the nuisance of feedin' critters and replenishing the woodpile in it's cold repulsive layers. Ya'll get the picture, I dislike snow intensely finding it most unfriendly but even to my surprise, I collect snowmen. I know.......isn't it a shocker?

Yep, this Ozark farm chick has 'em stashed everywhere. They come out before Christmas and hide in the ivy or hang around the fireplace. My little recipe holder snowman enjoys sittin' on my kitchen cabinet. They hang off doorknobs, hunker down in baskets and snuggle on the sofa in the living room. As much as I despise the snow I love all my little snowmen tucked in every nook and cranny of the Ponderosa's homestead.

Today as ya'll know is deep clean Friday. The day I enjoy chasin' those dust bunnies right out the door. The day germs are destroyed and everything shines brightly. Oh baby I've got the cleanin' bug bad but folks it's also Spring. Time to bring out the fresh garden pillows. Time to open the windows and air out the house. Time for the snowmen to be gathered and packed away safely 'till next year. I found myself singin' (I know that's hard for some of your to imagine...heeehehe!) that old 1960's song of Gary Lewis and the Playboys,"Sealed Withe a Kiss." "Though we gotta say goodbye for the Summer," I,m beltin' out as I pack these well rounded gents away thinkin' maybe just maybe as the last snowman is laid to rest and the box is closed it'll be "Sealed With A Kiss!"

HAPPY SPRING EVERYBODY!!!

They all have their own personalities and different clothes, and I have always collected Teddies!
Welcome Spring! You are late this year too!

  7. Very nice slideshow of some very cute snowmen belonging to your collection, Nezzy! I've enjoyed it.
I've also enjoyed reading about the history of snowmen and the World Day of Snowmen.
Very suitable post to mark the end of Winter and beginning of Spring!

  8. HI :)) cute snowmen. I was just glad to read that is not snowing at your house. That would be harsh.

Sounds like your having a blast dancing with your broom to the oldies. hehe.

    Sing on sister, sing on.

    ReplyDelete
  9. My winter things are getting sealed with sealing tape and then maybe I can part with a kiss. I am not singing though. This is work!

  10. I'm quite a snowman collector but I pack them away by the end of January. By then I've had it with the snow and cold and even their cute smiles. It snowed here overnight and every thing was covered with snow. This afternoon the sun is shining so a lot has melted.

  13. Soooo cute Nezzy! I can just picture you cleaning up a storm and packing the old snowmen away for the year. I actually like snow until about February and then I want it gone fast! Ha! Not in Wisconsin! But it's gone now and I'm happy! Oh, I and I love that song, one those oldies but goodies!
Hugs and don't work too hard,

  14. I have a penchant for snowmen too. I haven't quite figured out what it is about them that makes them so endearing though. Mine are packed also. I was more than willing to do a refreshing with springy type things.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Yep, I agree with you! Put the snowmen away for a season.
I look forward to spring, however it's too dang cold still in these parts.
I have a fire in the fireplace.
    Snow on the ground.
    Ready for SPRING!!!

  21. Your descriptions are tooo funny!
My snowmen went into hibernation when the Valentine's stuff came out. All of our snow has melted and we have had some nice days here. Tomorrow is supposed to rain so errands and housecleand are on the agenda. I need to get a bit of Easter out too.

    Have a wonderful weekend.

  22. I'm watching some of those tiny frozen lace doilies float down from the sky as I read about you putting your snowmen away for now. I'm glad that you have Spring solidly in your corner and hope you enjoy every jonquily, tulipy, warm breezy day of it.

  24. Ew Snowmen!!! LOL I could have sent you a bunch had I known. Seriously, that's a cute collection.

    ReplyDelete
  25. You crack me up! Thanks for the comment on my blog (about winning Teresa's cards!) - thought I'd return the favor. Being a native New Englander stuck here in sunny SoCal, I too collect snowmen - it's the only snow I get all year!

    ReplyDelete
  26. I don't know if I have a single snowman. That's kind of sad. Maybe it's time for a new collection here.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I love snowmen too, and have a little (but growing) collection of them, Mine just hang aroung at Christmas, though.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Happy Spring to you too.

I can't wait for the first warm day and I can open all the windows and leave in the new fresh air, and chase out the stale winter air. Warmer weather is coming in a few days.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Somehow when I think Farm Chick, I never imagined snow. Now that's all changed.

I love your snowmen. How can something so cold seem so cozy from here? I'm coming over.

Blessings to you! Have a super weekend!

  39. What a sweet collection. I can understand how hard it is to pack your winter friends away. Maybe you could leave just one out and dress him is beach shorts and sunglasses. Put a little straw hat on him and one of those cocktails with the fancy umbrellas in his hand. Okay. The cocktail was too much, wasn't it. Maybe just a cold Bud.

Thanks for the slide show! You always know how to have a good time over here.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Ah, I adore snowmen! Spring isn't here yet - too cold to open windows... but we can always dream...

    ReplyDelete
  41. Good Missouree Morning Nezzy! I am hoping since you tucked your Snowmen away in a box and sealed it with a kiss that winter weather is gone for good and Spring is here to stay. Looks a little iffy this weekend. Enjoy your weekend at the Ponderosa! Next week is going to be beautiful, bet you see your daffies!

    ReplyDelete
  42. I love cleaning too. Music makes it even better.

    ReplyDelete
  43. The only problem with collecting something is that when people find out, suddenly that is the only type of gift you ever get.
You do have a delightful collection however. Too bad they are seasonal and must be put away. Rest easy snowmen.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I really like the winter season most years but this one has seemed really, really long to me. I am SO happy that Spring is here!

    ReplyDelete
  45. Hi Nezzy, I, too, love snowman. I enjoyed the comment saying once people find out that's what you collect it is the only present you ever get. How true! I guess the trick is to collect something exotic...like say...oh...money...or diamonds then! ha! Sweet post!

    ReplyDelete
  46. Wonderful slide show. I only brought out a little Christmas this year; Reindeer! I don't collect Rudolphs, only non-seasonal Reindeer, but I'll tell ya, the only time to find them are at Christmas time.

Snowmen are cute, but we usually get enough snow here to make our own, so no collection.

Wish I could spring clean! The weather is still too cold to swing open the windows, and with the dust I can raise, I have to have windows open. It is 30 outside - nope, not yet.

    Great post Nezzy.
    Hugs,
    Yvette

  47. Wish some of your deep clean Friday amore would rub off on me, Nezzy. I'd rather be sewing!

  49. The only time my house gets really clean is if I'm having company and then the hubby helps out. I actually have several snowmen, but I always put them away with the Christmas decoration. How bout that Gary Lewis? I don't remember that song, but I do remember "Diamond Ring". Check out the wikipedia for them and you will probably learn a bunch of stuff you may not know. Take care. I get a bit bummed when it starts to warm up!(shhhh, I know that sounds nuts to most people!)...Your snowmen are all sooo adorable! Happy spring sweetie! xo Paulette ;)

  56. Oh Nezzy Sweetie...
I can hear you singing clear out here in Phoenix. Gosh I loved that song. You will have me singing it all day in my head. Love it.

I gotta tell you I too love snowmen. I have them everywhere, and I have decided this year I am leaving my big ones out. I am not putting them up. I love them on our top of our Entertainment Center, and I can look at them and they make me smile when I walk by. I started collecting them 25 years ago when we moved out to Phoenix from Oklahoma. I miss the snow yes, I just don't want to live in it. To darn cold for me.

You are just the sweetest darn thing. I so enjoy coming to visit. Read your writings and see what the heck is going on at your farm each day. You my friend are a "JEWEL". Thank you for calling me friend. I adore you.

    Country hugs and much love...Sherry

  57. You are so funny! To hate snow and yet collect snowmen. Maybe that is your subconsience telling you to show the snowflakes some love. ha ha!!

  58. Your snowmen are so cute! Things seem to collect me, rather than the other way around. My deep cleaning is just going to have to wait until Tuesday. They are hanging dry wall in my bathroom Monday, and we all know what that means!

  59. I love snowmen too but I am so sick of snow this year. I saw a tray of beautiful white pansies today and couldn't bring myself to buy them because I need some other color besides white in my life!!!

    Have a lovely week ahead.

  75. Oh, you are a gal after my own heart! lol The best about the snow around here - after the amazement of it's beauty has worn off after the um-teenth snowfall - is that our dog, Maggie, will 'go' QUICKLY instead of sniffing all over the yard!! We don't have a fence & she MUST be let out w/someone taking her on a leash or she'll be gone. So...when it snows, she's ready to do the deed & come back in where it's warm.

Other than that, I welcome SPRING!!!!!!!

    Blessings from Ohio...Kim<><

  76. Well hello Nezzy..you came through my back door and visited my house and we didn't get a chance to talk.
I pulled on my farming boots and traveled thru your farm. What an interesting life you do lead!!
I have been in your boots before..We have raised horses, goats, cows, chikens, rabbits, pigs and a baby deer. I could do a blog just on raising farm animals..lol It's kinda nice not having any right now!! I do miss the Spring time with the little one's being born!!
I wore my rodeo hat during my teen and college years..my bottom is shaped like a saddle..lol
I'm going to sign up to be a follower..I don't jump on everybodys blogs..there has to be a connection...I love your wit..your love for life..and most of all your love for the Lord!!
