I CAN'T HELP MYSELF(SUGAR PIE, HONEY BUNCH)
Sarai is the original name in Hebrew from which the name Sarah sprang forth. It means princess. Grace is Latin meaning a favored blessing, a virtue name referring to God's grace. This precocious perfect princess just had her forth birthday. Sarah Grace is simply a bubbling broth of personality charming anyone who crosses her path. Ya just look into those big browns and melt like a Popsicle on a humid summer day. {SIGH}
She delights in coloring, loves books and is curious about everything. Our favored blessing is an avid helper and is always right on the spot to offer assistance. Although she is totally different from her big sister Honor, she wants to be just like her. That 'Gracie'(as we call Miss Sara) girl is meltdown cute and knows how to work it.
During Honors birthday party Sara had anyone who would listen trying to help her find her beautiful fairy dress. Guests were lead into her bedroom to search her closet, under her bed and in her toys until her mother announced that 'Gracie did not own said beautiful fairy dress. ' This rockin' grandmas light bulb lit up like a Christmas tree with the perfect birthday present for this enchanted child, a beautiful fairy dress! An inquisitive adult guest then asked the question, "Sara what color will your fairy dress be?" "PINK, I want my fairy dress to be pink," the wide eyed child replied. OK, a beautiful pink fairy dress, how hard can that be? I want to stop right now and personally thank the guest who posed the color question to Sarah, it made my life extremely interesting the next few weeks. I found beautiful fairy dresses 'Gracie's' size in soft heavenly white, fluffy frilly yellows and a most beautiful misty green winged frock I'd ever laid eyes on. The search wasn't easy but with great determination a beautiful pink fairy dress was in the bag. Yep, grandma got'er done.
My son told me this story the other day. All four children were hopping around the house as bunnies. It really doesn't take much to entertain us down here in the Ozarks. Brother Joel raised up with an " arrrrrrrr" swatting the air with his bunny claws. My son states, "Oh no, we have a rabid~ rabbit in our midst." A couple days later Sarah crawls up in her daddy's lap making a wrinkly face going 'arrrrrr' at her daddy. Son asks, "and.... what are you?" 'Cause one rarely knows around that active animalhousehold. Sarah giggled her little giggle and said, "I'm a bunny~bunny daddy!" That's our Gracie!
Our little favored princess blessing who is full of grace brings our family joy every day. I see that wide faced smile and all I want to do is scoop her up like a big dip of cappuccino chocolate chunk ice cream and cover those pink chubby cheeks with my special noisy grandma kisses. As the Four Tops sang on their Motown single released in 1965, "I Can't Help Myself"...(Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch!!!)

She is so adorable! And what a perfect name.
ReplyDeleteI do not blog on Saturday's, but I loved what you wrote and just had to tell you that! Off to Lake Charles to lose some money!! Have a great rest of the weekend.
ReplyDeleteAwwww, what a sweetie pie. I can't wait to see her in her fairy dress! Something tells me that she won't be taking it off for quite awhile! You are so blessed to have such beautiful little ones to love on.
ReplyDeletePlease post pictures of that little cutie in the fairy dress. And just a warning, I've known little princesses who put those dresses on and won't take them off for ANYTHING. I have one who is now totally done with the fairy dress period (sigh) but two more who will be getting there soon. Can't wait. Have a wonderful week-end!
ReplyDeleteI have a Sarah granddaughter too. I have 7 grandchildren in all. 4 girls and 3 boys. What an absolute joy to be grandparents. I can relate to everything you say. Your heart almost bursts at the thought of them. People without grandchildren just don't get it.
ReplyDeleteLove your blog!
Oh wow...those EYES! Such a sweet little gal! Can't wait to see the fairy princess dress! Love your writing...such humor. So glad you are blessed to have little ones in your life.
ReplyDeleteLovely slideshow of the princess Sarah.
ReplyDeleteI fell in love with the cuttie, and with her Grandma's as usual, colorful descriptive language.
What a bundle of light and love. Can't wait to see her in her princess dress.
ReplyDeleteAHH Nezzy,
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful tribute to a darling little girl! I am starting to get this Grandma Envy thing and then one my good friends just told me her daughter is preggos and she beat me to the punch. Enjoy your darling girl! Cindy
I, too am waiting for the fairy dress photos. I have a confession to make - I have no grandchildren yet, but I have a closet crammed full of GRANDCHILDREN CLOTHES! LOTS of fairy dresses, in every size from preemie to 6X, LOTS of My First Christmas onesies, LOTS of soft pink, sky blue, and creamy whites. It's a closet of dreams. I go to Macys and Dillards and JC Penneys after holidays and buy classic clothes for a song; my future grandchildren will be the best dressed kids on the block!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy that little darlin' to the fullest - for we all know they're young far too short a time.
Hi, I see your comments on a couple of blogs I follow and wanted to visit your blog. What a darling granddaughter and such a cute story. Your "pink" dress story reminds me of a grandma the other day who said one Christmas Santa at the mall promised her granddaughter twin Cabbage Patch dolls when it had taken her months to find one!!! Somehow, like you, she came through though. Very nice to meet you and hope you enjoy the rest of the weekend.
ReplyDeleteWhat a precious little darling! Sara is my name, so I already knew that it means princess! Did ya know that Sally is the nickname for Sara? It is!
ReplyDeleteI love your story...and your little granddaughter is just absolutely adorable and then some!! :)
ReplyDeleteNezzy..thank you so very much for your comments...and I have to tell you the first thing I did was thank GOD for his tender mercies on me. I have been so frightened..which probably hasn't helped me.
It could have been so much worse..and at times I was afraid it was. You have been just precious to me and I want you to know how much I appreciate all of your encouragment. It has helped get me through this.
Many hugs to you my friend..
Mona
Thanks for visiting today - we would enjoy having you as one of the girlfriends! --- makes me laugh!
ReplyDeleteAnd what a sweetheart! Keep handing out those grandma kisses!
Oh, I love that --she's a bunny-bunny, because the other one was a rabid-rabbit!!! It's little things like this that makes me so thoroughly enjoy being a mother.
ReplyDeleteShe is an absolute sweetheart (and she shares my baptismal name)!
I think grandma's are the fairy princesses fairy God Mother - does that make sense?
ReplyDeleteYour story is so cute and I know what you mean about how you can swoop them in your arms. I have an 8 year grandson.
Those big brown eyes are killers!
She is a sweetie pie and that is from one grandma to another. uh huh.
ReplyDeleteIt's easy to see you are a very proud grandma overflowing with love. This post made me smile Nezzy. Thanks for ending my day so perfectly.

ReplyDeleteIsn't it a great feeling to be able to find the perfect gift, rather than just buying something to have a gift? She is precious!

Loved reading this! My daughter loves being a "princess" as soon as she puts on any dress. I'm sure we will being moving into the dress up stages soon. Don't you just want to pour maple syrup all over them and gobble them up??? Take lots of pictures and videos, if I could just bottle up the giggles and smiles and laughter!

ReplyDeleteHi Nezzy, Your grandaughter is beautiful, I am so glad you finally found the dress, I can't wait to see the photos..I hope her birthday is soon. I saw some sparkley glittery pink shoes in a Kame apart the other day..just like Dorothy's Ruby Slippers but pink. How about a tiara? Oh, a Fairy needs lots of accessories:)
ReplyDeleteYou are truly blessed. It sounds like you are surrounding by a wonderful family. Thanks for your comments on my blog. You spread the blessings around with your words.
ReplyDeleteI knew I loved your blog but hearing your talk about your sweet granddaughter makes me enjoy it even more.

ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to Sarai. She is so adorable and of course you are a sweet grandma :)
ReplyDeleteOh we must see the Fairy dress!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a Q T Pie you have the honor of watching over. I think this GM thing is so much fun. Mr. Vundervants would probably like a fairy dress too but don't tell his Dad:) I baked two Train cakes for his parties today. Both cakes look like train wrecks:) Thankfully 3 yr olds are not critical foodies yet.

Hi Nezzy....
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by and commenting on that pic of an abandoned building/poem that I posted. That building is a pic of an old store front in a one horse town not too far from me! Must be all old store fronts are similar, huh?
Tami E.
You are right - you have 8 grandchildren? You are blessed. I have Andy and I love him to death. Thanks for your nice comment about him.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for stopping by, yesterday. I do love teenagers and all their white noise. They teach me a lot about myself. Thank you for the encouragement.

ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful week-end Nezzy, your such a great blogger friend! Cindy
ReplyDeleteShe is Heavenly!!!
ReplyDeleteShe is precious. I actually overheard my husband talking to our daughter about future grandchildren. Not that we would put pressure on my daughter's boyfriend to marry her, so they could start a family, but having grandchildren appeals to us...maybe way too much.
ReplyDeleteHi Nezzy,
ReplyDeleteI love your idea for the blank wall! I saw something like that at TJMAXX yesterday but I don't want to pay $60 so I will need to fashion one myself! thanks for the idea~ Cindy
Every time our Grace hears Amazing Grace in church she is so very sure everyone in the congregation is singing about...and to...her! You make me think grandchildren are gonna be just about the best things ever!
