WHERE IN THE WORLD IS BILBO.~~~MINOT, NORTH DAKOTA~ (Travelin' Man)
Wishin' my mammary glands would shrink is something this gal never thought she'd do when she was a young farm chick just commin' into her womanhood. In the midst of my shingle outbreak the Zora trekked from my backbone 'round my side to the tip of my left Grand Teton, Alfred. The blistery mass also made a beeline from my breastbone to Alfred's peek attacking from the other side . Poor Alfred was blown up like a banded bull gone bad and felt like a bowling ball strapped to my chest. Everything has gotten better but I continue to have a belt girdled around me where I'm experiencing posterpetic neuralgia along with swelling that leaves poor Alfred playin' peek-a-boo over my brand new Warners. This is where the docs would prescribe ya anything from antidepressants to morphine. Ya, like this natural woman is gonna do that! The hyperesthea (oversensitivity) and paresthea (pins and needles to numbness) are kinda' entertainin' to play with. I can press on my forehead and feel it beside my nose on my cheek. A spot on me leg when touched sends tingly sensations to my ankle...freaky huh? What a girl won't do for amusement stuck out in the middle of nowhere. I AM takin' it easy... well, as easy as a chick can take it on a busy farm and do so appreciate all the prayers, well wishes, emails and surprises delivered by Larry the Mailman. I am blessed. Do I have the best followers or what?
I am so gonna miss the best little ranch hand I've ever had. Yep, that little Bilbo said he was tired to the bone and packed his little purple bag and travelin' trunk 'cause he's a real travelin' man at heart. He told me he didn't care if he didn't see a tractor, lawnmower or bovine for a very, very long time. He'd had enough of farm livin' and should be landing in Minot, North Dakota today. He'll be spening time with Jessica over at IT'S NOT THAT BAD. I'm bettin' sweet Jessica, her hubby and adorably delightful children will show Bilbo the time of his life. Hopefully he can rest up and recover from gettin' down and dirty here on the Ponderosa.
Right off of Billboard's Hot 100 1961 number one hit singles, I can hear the little garden gnome singin' "I've make a lot of stops all over the world" just like that handsome Ricky Nelson. Yep, from Buckingham Palace to the Ozarks that Bilbo is a tried and true "TRAVELIN' MAN!!!"

What is this? Looks like a parcel ;D
ReplyDeleteAre you teasing us?? Where'd he go????
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful weekend and it is great to see a post from YOU!!!!!!
Melinda
Looks like he's been to lots of places...
ReplyDeleteAwww I love his little suitcase!
ReplyDeleteHave a fabu weekend!
Well, I'm thrilled for Bilbo that he's leaving the rigors of farm life, but wishing he would have taken those awful shingles with him. And I do hope he'll find a new home before those cold North Dakota winters hit...maybe someplace in Florida?
ReplyDeleteBy the way, we can certainly tell Bilbo is of royal blood - he himself glows golden and carries a royal purple valise!
Wishing you and Poor Alfred a speedy recovery from this day on!
Oh Girly-Girl, I have such sympathy for you. Can you go "commando" at all or do you have to be, as we used to say, "hoofed up" constantly to keep the pain under control? Man, that sound really awful. Keeping in you in my prayers and sending soothing vibes over the internets. Keep on hanging in there, sorry about the pun.
ReplyDeleteSo good to see a post from you - so sorry you are still suffering. Still praying for you and hoping completely healing is right around the Ponderosa corner!
ReplyDeleteI am going with Bilbo. It has to be cooler there, no farm work and no outside job for me!
ReplyDeleteGlad you are feeling a little better and that will happen each day a tad more. I wanted an instant healing but I guess you did too.
Want to do a post on Gail in a box? Maybe just doing someone else's farm work would be a relief. I heard rumors of a pool and sweet tea...
I am sooooo sorry that your shingles are still plaguing you so much. I hurt for you just hearing you describe them. Praise God for your sense of humor and for sharing it with us. We are the ones blessed.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry to hear you have been sick - more like under attack really. It sounds miserable. I've always heard an attack of shingles would make you want to pull your hair out. I believe it after reading your account. I hope you are back on track soon and feeling better. Sending you hugs and well wishes.
ReplyDeleteGosh Nezzy. You got hit really hard with those shingles. I hope you are truly takingth time that is required to truly recover from them. And Bilbo leaving you in your time of need! What's up with that! ;)
ReplyDeleteHope each day sees continued improvement!
I have missed you and am so sorry to hear of the shingles. I hope you soon feel better ~ you'll be in my prayers.
ReplyDeleteI have know several people that had the shingles but never a case so bad as you've had. I'll be praying you are back to normal soon. It'll be interesting to see where that little fellow winds up at next.
ReplyDeleteoh sweetie, I am so sorry to hear about your experience with shingles! I have never had them yet (she says cautiously, lest she jinx herself) but I do hear they are just the pits! Amazing that you could find some humor in this, as always reading your posts is the like the best gift ever!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, I had no idea. I'm so sorry you are having to deal with a bad outbreak. Hope you heal up quickly.
ReplyDeleteI hope "The Good Ol' Summertime" finds you further down the road to healing and that you don't feel like you need to take over all of Bilbo's work just because he had decided to continue his travels. It is great to hear from you and keep taking care of yourself.
ReplyDeleteOh, Nezzy. I'm so sorry that you are still battling with the effects of the shingles. i am glad to see your sense of humor hasn't suffered though.
ReplyDeleteHope you will be better soon.
Blessings.
I'm twitching from the remembrance of when I had shingles. It's painful but never was I amused. I guess my attitude stunk next to your cheerful one. Hang in there though. Maybe the worst is almost over?
ReplyDeleteI'm sure Bilbo will shed a few tears when he leaves. But, think of the adventures he's in for when he arrives in North Dakota. Take care of yourself.
now that is cute. we participated in a flat stanley for several people. That was a fun project.
ReplyDeleteThat shingles stuff scares me. I think I'll get one of those immunizations I see at the pharmacy
(here from far side -- checking out her favorites)
G'day there...what we won't do for entertainment LOL...I had those shingles too once...but hang in there girl...A big hug for you!!! Dzintra♥x
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about your shingles and I do wish you a speedy recovery. I spent quite a number of years growing up in Minot as my Dad was stationed at Minot AFB. Many good memories there!
ReplyDeleteOh Nezzy, I know you are not feeling great but you haven't lost your sense of humor :-)
ReplyDeleteHang in there and I'm praying for a fast recovery.
xoxo jj

ReplyDeleteOH Nezzy,
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry for your suffering. You really got hit with a bad case. It seems like those Docs could give you something to speed up the recovery. I've been to Fargo but not sure about Minot.
Take Care my friend,
Hugs,
Cindy
Kudos to you for bravely withstanding the fierce attack of Herpes Zoster upon you. Let's hope that after his encounter with Nezzy from Ponderosa, he'll totally disappear from this world !
ReplyDeleteMay be Bilbo won't miss the farmwork, but he'll sure miss you, Nezzy, as we all do.
Best Wishes and Blessings to you!
Have no idea where I have been or how I missed your last post. Dang girl, you have really had a nasty dose haven't you. I am amazed you have kept your sense of humor intact. You have made me chuckle over what is a positively dreadful situation.
ReplyDeleteI have heard stories about Shingles but none have effected me like yours. Monday, I'm getting the vaccine.
Be totally well soon lady.
Oh, bother! I can't believe you're still struggling with this shingles stuff. But you've got the right attitude....if you can't beat it, join it with finding some humor in the whole situation.
ReplyDeleteI'm praying the shingles will leave town as well with a fully packed trunk...so there!
Blessings,
Tammy ~@~
I've been wondering about you! I'm sorry to hear that you are still feeling yucky!
ReplyDeleteTake care and have a sweet weekend.
Hi Nezzy, I hope that Alfred is going to recover one of these days..bummer..big bummer. Are you sure you don't want to get a little help from the Doctors to get over this..you have been sufferin' a long time girl. I am worried about you...not that it helps worrying. I will pray harder.
ReplyDeleteI have been to Minot...Bilbo ought to have a grand time there! :)
Goodness Nezzy! I am so sorry you are dealing with the Shingles and their aftermath. I really thought you had just gotten so busy at the Ponderosa that you couldn't get a blog post out. I thought things had really improved. Been thinking of you and I am so glad to see a post. Take care please and I am thinkin bout you and remembering you in my nightly prayers. Even this stinkin' Missouri heat isn't behaving and making it easier for you!
ReplyDeleteGood luck, Bilbo! Nezzy, I'm so glad your sense of humor is still intact. That Mt. Alfred story is a kicker! If you can't beat those stupid shingles with drugs, you'll kill it with laughter! :) Get well prayers coming your way...
ReplyDeleteYou hang in there, Nezzy,,,it can only get better.....right??
ReplyDeleteYou sure do have a way of writing!
ReplyDeleteI am amazed at how well you are handling the shingles. I pray they are gone soon. Most people couldn't possibly find it in them to joke about it. You are an amazing lady!
I've never been attacked, but as others, have heard they are HORRIBLE!! Sure wish I had a magic potion to send you ... lots of prayers coming your way though!!

Yikes, those shingles sound incredibly painful! Can't believe you're still suffering from the after effects...wow! You poor girl. Maybe you should enjoy a stiff drink or two every couple of hours to help ease the discomfort!!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to host Bilbo sometime but I wonder if my kids would scare the pants off of him. He'd be begging to go back to the quiet farm life he was so anxious to leave!!!
Sending prayers your way...for you and Bilbo, after all, who knows what adventures lay ahead for the little guy :). Thanks for your comment on my blog!

ReplyDeleteHi Nezzy! I haven't heard anything from you since May, and thought you had quit posting, am so glad to see you back!! But I am so sorry to hear about your shingles attack!! We know several people that just got shingles, and we really need to get that vaccine! I'm like you, don't want to use drugs if I can bear it, which is one reason we haven't gotten the vaccine yet. I am including you in my prayers that you will make a speedy recovery with no lingering side effects. I know you are making the best of things with your great sense of humor, that can be hard when you're in pain, but I think you are a pioneer woman at heart, huh?
ReplyDeleteHi Nezzy I had no idea you had been ill, I did wonder where the nice lady with the good sence of humour was and what she been up too. A speedy recovery Nezzy and lots of flowers to brighten your day.

He grows every kind of pecan and fruit tree there is.

Dear one I hope you are doing better. Blessings.
ReplyDeleteOMG NEZZY,
ReplyDeleteI laughed so hard at that Menopausal Woman comment!! It's just not fair is it! My daughter is bursting with all her hormones and I just want some. hehe.
Now you have a great week and I hope some rain is headed your way.
Hugs,
Cindy
Oh, shingles! How miserable! I had them my first year of teaching (The doc said it was stress. DUH!)but they didn't come completely out--I just had an itchy little circle of half-developed ones on my lower back. So I thought my husband had it bad when he got it and they went right around his middle. I carefully scratched around them for him so as not to leave any scars. But it sounds like you've had a terrible case, and I hope they're gone soon!! Sending lots of positive energy your way!
ReplyDeleteHello to you Nezzie from the hot state of Texas.
ReplyDeleteI think we are sizzling down here.
Hope you have a bright Monday.
Shug
Oh Nezzy, you poor thing! I had no idea you were going through this.
ReplyDeleteI hate that you're suffering.
Hi Nezzy, I always appreciate your comments..and I know you must be feeling a bit better to comment. I just wanted to stop by and say " Hi..and I hope the shingles have left you once and for all." Take good care of yourself..you are such a cheerful inspiration to many people:)
ReplyDeleteI traveled over here from 'I Can't Blog' because of the comments from yourself and Mrs. 4444.
ReplyDeleteI can tell from just skimming through a few posts that your take on life draws the followers.
It's great that you can take this condition, shingles, and turn it into a funny and upbeat post. Amazing attitude that we all need more of.

YOu are one brave little soul! I would be shrieking and carrying on something terrible if my poor rock in the sock's had such a problem!
ReplyDeleteYep..you are brave. I guess the Dude Rancho that "Bilbo" was anticipating sorta didn't pan out? Wait...no..it's called a "working ranch" right? Ah well, under the circumstances it might be best that he checked out! You don't need your tractors running amuck! :)
You poor baby! I am so sorry for all you are going through. There HAS to be an end it it soon...right? Right? Good grief!!
Would MORE love and hugs help...I mean..you know..sorta CAREFUL hugs? No? Ok..just sending my love ... :)
